Praxar Grading Suggestions

Choosing a grading outline that fits your teaching style can make the simulation a more effective learning experience. To support you, we’ve prepared three suggested approaches that highlight different pedagogical priorities. These outlines are meant as a starting point to save you time, provide clarity for students, and ensure that the assessment aligns with the learning outcomes you value most.

IdeaRecommendation: Choose a grading outline before introducing the simulation so students know from the start how they’ll be evaluated and can align their efforts accordingly.

Option 1: Participation-Centred

Best for instructors who value engagement and experiential learning over “winning” the simulation. Students are rewarded for showing up, engaging, and collaborating with peers.

Weighting Example

  • Individual Prep Work (Tutorials + Practice Zone) – 20%

    • Completion of Praxar Tutorials and at least three practice rounds in their Practice Zone.

  • Simulation Engagement – 40%

    • Measured by the percentage of saved decisions throughout the rounds.

  • Collaboration (360 Peer Evaluation) – 25%

    • Based on teammates' 360 Peer Evaluation results.

  • Reflection – 15%

    • Logbook: students describe what they learned and how they contributed.

    • OR: short Praxar Questionnaire (15 questions).

See instructional video here.

Option 2: Reflection-Centred

Best for instructors who emphasize critical thinking, self-awareness, and learning from mistakes. Grades focus on personal growth and the ability to connect theory with practice.

Weighting Example

  • Individual Prep Work (Tutorials) – 10%

    • Completion of Praxar Tutorials.

  • Simulation Outcomes (Metrics/KPIs) – 20%

    • Ensures accountability for decision-making.

  • Reflection (Logbooks) – 40%

    • Multiple Logbook entries required, connecting simulation experiences to course concepts.

  • Collaboration (360 Peer Evaluation) - 30%

    • Based on teammates' 360 Peer Evaluation results.

See instructional video here.

Option 3: Metrics/KPI-Centred

Best for instructors who want an applied-business approach, similar to case competitions or real-world performance. Grades emphasize measurable results, with reflection included to capture learning behind the numbers.

Weighting Example

  • Prep Work (Tutorials) – 10%

    • Completion of Praxar Tutorials.

  • Simulation Outcomes (Metrics/KPIs) – 60%

    • Golf: Share Value, Social/Environmental Score

    • Kayak: Share Value, Net Sales, Employee Satisfaction

    • Videogame: Share Value, Sales, Games Sold

  • Simulation Engagement – 10%

    • Measured by the percentage of saved decisions.

  • Reflection (Logbook) – 20%

    • Short Logbook entry linking decisions and results to learning objectives.

See instructional video here.

IdeaTip: These outlines are flexible. Instructors may adjust weightings or combine elements from different options to best suit their course design.

These outlines highlight only a selection of the many KPIs and metrics available in the simulation. They are provided as suggestions.
