Best Practices for Students After Each Round (Year)

After each simulated year (or “round”) in the Praxar simulation, it’s important to take time to review your results, reflect on your decisions, and plan your next strategy. The following best practices will help you make more informed decisions and improve your performance over time.

Review Your Key Reports and Tools

These tools provide valuable insights into your company’s performance and the market environment:

  • Podium – Check where your company stands compared to competitors.

  • Diagnosis & Consistency Report – Identify your strengths and weaknesses based on performance indicators and decision consistency.

  • Decision History – Review your past decisions to understand what worked and what didn’t.

  • Annual Analysis of Industry (slideshow) – Get a summary of market trends, competitor performance, and overall industry evolution.

  • Financial Statements – Review your company’s core financial documents, especially:

    • Income Statement, which shows your sales, expenses, and profit.

    • Balance Sheet, which reflects your assets, liabilities, and equity, giving a snapshot of your company’s financial position.

Together, these reports help you understand both performance over time (Income Statement) and overall stability (Balance Sheet) — key to evaluating your company’s health.

Your Share Value calculation can be found at the bottom of your Balance Sheet.

Download Reports as You Go

Make sure to download and save your reports after each round. Once a new round begins, certain data and historical details may no longer be accessible. Keeping your own copies will help you track progress and prepare your final analysis.

Use Market Studies Strategically

After one or two rounds, consider purchasing a Market Study. This report helps you understand what choices your competitors (your classmates) are making — such as pricing and promotion strategies. Use this information to adjust your own company’s positioning and gain a competitive edge.

Know How You Are Being Graded

Your instructor may choose to grade you based on specific Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) — such as Sales, Share Value, or Social/Environmental Responsibility. Make sure you know which metrics apply to your course so you can focus on the right areas when reviewing results and setting goals.

Use Neo (If Enabled by Your Instructor)

Neo is the simulation’s built-in AI assistant that can help you:

  • Clarify simulation concepts and terminology.

  • Refer back to key lessons from the Tutorials.

  • Guide your decision-making process when you’re unsure how to proceed.

Warning
Neo may not be available in your simulation — its activation depends on your instructor’s settings.

Reflect and Plan Ahead

After each round:

  • Discuss insights with your teammates (if applicable).

  • Set goals for the next round (e.g., increase sales, improve quality, reduce costs).

  • Align your next decisions with the company’s long-term strategy.

IdeaRemember: The simulation is not only about making the “right” decisions but understanding why results change. Continuous analysis, reflection, and adaptability are the keys to long-term success.
