How to access the market study

This article is intended for Praxar's Golf, Video game, and Kayak simulations only.

Accessing the Market Study

The Market Study lets you compare your company’s decisions with those of your competitors. To access it, click the  Market Study icon where available in your decision forms.

How it works

1. Purchasing the Market Study is optional, and can be purchased in multiple rounds of the simulation, if desired.
2. Once purchased, you’ll instantly have access to competitors’ decisions from the previous year when clicking on any of the Market Study icons.
3. The Market Study is available for decisions that can be compared among companies (for example, pricing, marketing choices, etc.).
   
4. The data from the study is only available to students for that current round.

Availability

1. If the icon appears greyed out, the Market Study is not yet available.
2. If your simulation begins with a Test Year, the Market Study becomes available starting in Year 1.
3. If your simulation begins in Year 1, it will only become available from Year 2 onward.
   

Cost and Financial Tracking

1. The cost of a Market Study is listed in your Income Statement for the year of the purchase.
   
2. This expense is not shown as a separate line item - you will need to analyze your financial report to determine where it has been categorized.
   
3. The cost varies from year to year.

Reviewing your Income Statement after purchasing a Market Study helps you understand how strategic expenses affect your company's financial performance.
