Why am I in a solo simulation?

There are a few reasons you might be placed in a solo version of the simulation:

  • Your instructor chose this format — it’s often used in asynchronous or online courses.

  • You joined the course late, after team formation was completed.

  • You were removed from a team in the competitive version and reassigned to a solo simulation.

Regardless of how you got here, the solo version still gives you the full learning experience — just without the teamwork component!

How it works

Unlike the competitive version (where you compete against your classmates), in the solo simulation you’ll be competing against five virtual companies.

You are responsible for simulating your own rounds using the “Simulate Year” button located at the top of your Simulation Phase page.

This setup works similarly to the Practice Zone — you control the pace and simulate each round yourself — but you cannot rewind once a round is simulated.

Instructor controls

Your instructor may choose to unlock each round gradually, meaning you’ll only be able to click the "Simulate Year" buttons when your instructor decides.

This ensures that you take the time to plan, analyze, and strategize between rounds before moving forward.

IdeaTips for success
  • Review your results carefully after each round before simulating the next one.

  • Use the available reports and performance indicators to guide your next decisions.

  • Remember, every decision impacts your company’s performance — treat each round like a new business year!
