Praxar's World Ranking

Praxar’s World Ranking lets you and your students see how each company in your simulation stacks up against companies around the world that have played a Praxar simulation. It’s a fun, motivating feature that can spark competition and pride — but there are a few important details to understand before using it for grading or bonus points.

How the Ranking Works

  • Metric: The ranking is based only on Share Value — no other KPIs are factored in.

  • Time window: Only results from the last 12 months are included. Older companies drop off automatically.

  • Mixed group sizes: The ranking compares all companies, even though some simulation groups are small (few companies) and others are large. Smaller groups may be easier or harder to dominate than bigger ones.

  • Not always apples to apples: If you’re using standings for bonus points or grade incentives, keep in mind that results are not normalized for group size or competitiveness.

Filters Explained

You can adjust the World Ranking by applying filters. Filters let you include or exclude certain types of companies to make comparisons more meaningful.

  • Archived groupsShows companies from simulation groups that have been archived.

  • Groups whose demand has been changedIncludes companies from groups where the instructor adjusted market demand (increased or decreased). Learn more →

  • Companies that receive financial assistance – Includes companies that were given extra funds. Learn more →

  • Companies penalized financiallyIncludes companies that had funds subtracted. Learn more →
  • My institution only – Limits the ranking to companies from your own school.

Tips for Instructors

  • For motivation: The World Ranking can spark engagement and healthy competition.

  • For grading: If you want to award bonus points, be cautious — results depend on group size and competitiveness, so it’s not a perfectly level playing field.

  • For fairness: Consider using filters to narrow the comparison to similar conditions or to your own institution.
