Notes
This article is for Entrepreneurship, Management and Marketing simulations.

The Test Year is a trial run for Year 1 of the simulation. It allows participants to try the simulation together with their company members and learn how their decisions affect results. Individuals doing a solo experience will also benefit from seeing the results their choices have caused.

After the Test Year is over, the simulation automatically gets ready for Year 1. Some important points to note:

  • Results displayed at the start of Year 1 and advice given by virtual managers in Year 1 are based on decisions made in the Test Year. They help students refine their decisions once the competitive simulation begins.
  • Test year results do not count towards the rest of the Simulation. In fact, each company in the Simulation starts in the same financial situation as it did in the Test Year.

  • Decisions made in the Test Year are automatically entered into the decision forms of Year 1. These decisions should, of course, be reviewed by students with the knowledge gained by analyzing the results of the Test Year.

  • The Test Year can be skipped, and students can be made to start directly at Year 1 - See  Skipping The Test Year
