The Preparation Phase:Tutorials and Practice Zone

The Preparation Phase:Tutorials and Practice Zone

Info
This article is intended for instructors.

Notes
This article is for Entrepreneurship, Management and Marketing simulations.

The preparation section is divided into two sections: the Tutorials and the Practice Zone. In order to encourage students to better prepare themselves, it is recommended to award points for the completion of these steps.

Tutorials

The Tutorials section introduces students to the key concepts covered in the simulation, along with their team of virtual managers. This is the first section they will access after registering.

Each tutorial includes five multiple-choice questions. Scoring is based on the number of attempts:
  1. 5 points for a correct answer on the first try
  2. 4 points on the second try, and so on
Students can earn up to 25 points per tutorial

You can monitor their progress by navigating to the Results & Analysis tab of in the group dashboard. Select the Tutorials tab to view each student's progress, total points and completion status.

Alert
If any students are not on this list, it is because they have not yet registered for the simulation.

Practice Zone

The Practice Zone gives students a chance to explore the simulation independently before the official start. Here, they can get comfortable with the platform, making decisions at their own pace while competing against five virtual companies. There is no interaction with classmates in this section.

Students should complete the Tutorials before entering the Practice Zone. Instructors often assign points to encourage participation and can set a minimum number of rounds to be completed. You can manage these settings in the Planner.

To track student activity, go to the Results and Analysis tab in the group dashboard and select the Practice Zone tab to view the number of rounds completed by each student.

Info
The Practice Zone is available by default in the student portal. If you want to block this access, use the Planner.
Alert
To avoid confusion between the Practice Zone and the real simulation, instructors can deactivate the Practice Zone once the simulation begins.
