The same advice seems to be repeated year to year. What should I do?
This article is intended for Students.
This article is for Entrepreneurship, Management and Marketing simulations.
The advice given by the virtual managers is based on an analysis of the results for each company following the simulation of each round. This advice may appear similar for successive years for the following reasons:
- The software algorithms select the most relevant advice for each case. If a particular piece of advice is repeated, it means that significant changes need to be made because the situation has unfortunately not been corrected.
- Student teams (companies) often adopt very similar strategies and do not differ greatly from one another. Several companies may thus receive the same advice.
- As the simulation evolves, the students’ decisions generally improve. The pool of advice the software draws on gradually shrinks, so the same advice messages tend to appear more often.
Note that if starting from either the Test Year or Year 1, all the teams receive the same advice because they start from the same situation and the same set of initial decisions.
As an instructor, you can use the instructor portal to disable the advice function at any time and reactivate it as necessary. If you hide the advice, the students will have to rely on their own analysis of the situation to make their companies successful.
Occasionally, there may be some inconsistency between advice and analysis.
