Making the “Simulate” process automatic for each round

Notes
This article is relevant to the Team version only.
This article is for Entrepreneurship, Management and Marketing simulations.

Using the Calendar within a single Simulation or using the Planner to configure one or multiple Simulations, you can set deadlines for when the decisions for each round must be completed. This gives the students a set period of time for decision-making. In addition, this frees you, the instructor, from the need to manually simulate each round, in case something comes up or you don’t have access to a computer at the right time.

Follow these steps with the Calendar:

  1. Go to your instructor profile for the appropriate simulation on the website at www.praxar.com.
  2. Access the Calendar.
  3. Add a “Simulate” event and choose the year (round) to simulate and the time when the simulation will be launched. The system will automatically simulate the market and generate the results at the chosen time.
  4. Repeat step 3 for each year (round) you want to simulate automatically.

Follow these steps with the Planner:

  1. Access your instructor profile at www.praxar.com and then open the Instructor Zone and after, click on the Planner icon.
  2. Open the required Planner for the team version of the Simulations
  3. In the Simulation menu of the Planner, choose the number of rounds required to be played
  4. In the table, move the slider to “Auto” for each required round and enter a date and time

Your students will only see the next upcoming deadline in the “Simulation” panel on the student portal.

By making the “Simulate” process automatic, students can begin to work during class time and finish making their decisions during the week.

However, it is best if the deadline is not too long after the class, because some students might forget to enter their decisions before the deadline.

Other considerations: If the simulation deadline is too early in the week, students will be able to see the results and the instructions for the next round several days in advance. They will then have had time to discuss their decisions before class and may be less attentive during class time.

To avoid this issue, you can simulate the round and generate the results at the beginning of class.

Alert
If you are using the Solo version, the market simulation process cannot be automated, because each student progresses at his or her own pace.
However, you can still control their progress - click here for more information.
