This article is intended for instructors.
This article applies to the Solo version.
This article is for Entrepreneurship, Management and Marketing simulations.
In the solo version, each participant controls the SIMULATE button themselves, which allows them to advance from one round to the next (from one year to the next). In some cases, the instructor may wish to control the rate of progress of the participants. Using the Calendar within a single Simulation or using the Planner to configure one or multiple Simulations, it is possible to prevent students from simulating before a date set by the instructor and to prevent them from advancing too quickly in the simulation.
To set this up using the Calendar:
- Access your instructor profile for the simulation in question at www.praxar.com.
- Access the calendar.
- Add an event "Activate simulate button" and choose the round as well as the date and time when the "Simulate" button will be activated in the participant portal.
- Repeat step 3 for all rounds where you want to monitor the progress of participants.
To set this up using the Planner:
- Access your instructor profile at www.praxar.com and then open the Instructor Zone and after, click on the Planner icon.
- Open the required Planner for the solo version of the Simulations
- In the Simulation menu of the Planner, choose the number of rounds required to be played
- In the table, move the slider to “Instructor” for each required round and enter a date and time
If there are no constraints on the Calendar, students can progress without restriction and even complete the simulation. For example, if you have configured the "Enable Simulate Button" event for years 1 and 4, participants will not be able to simulate these rounds until the date specified in your Calendar. For the other rounds, there is nothing to stop them from moving at their own pace.
In the participant's portal, the participant sees the "Simulate" button at all times. However, when an "Activate Simulate Button" event is operational for a year, participants can only simulate the round from the time determined in the Calendar.
This operation is intended to prevent participants from moving too fast in the Solo version of a simulation. It does not set a deadline by which they must have completed their work.
