You can use the Logbook to evaluate various elements of the simulation. For example, at the end of a round, you can ask the students to write a short text explaining and justifying their decisions.
To do so, you must create a Logbook for each round when one is needed. If you would like the students to complete a Logbook in Years 2 and 6, you will need to create two separate Logbooks. You can name them “Year 2” and “Year 6” to make it easier for students to find and complete the appropriate assessment.
Follow these steps to create a Logbook:
- Log in to www.praxar.com and go to the appropriate simulation.
- In the “Evaluation” panel, click on “Access.”
- In the “Logbook” section, click on the “Create a new Logbook” button. A new pop-up window will open.
- Give the Logbook a name such as “Year 1” and enter any special instructions for the students (optional). You will also need to choose whether the Logbook should be completed individually or as a team. If you like, you can also enter the date the Logbook will become available as well as the deadline for its completion. If you enter a date, the Logbook will appear on the Calendar. If you prefer, you can decide on these dates later on.
Important note regarding the deadline: The students will still be able to complete the Logbook after the deadline has passed. However, if they access the Logbook after the deadline (whether or not they make any changes), the compilation will indicate that the Logbook was not completed on time.
All the student texts for a single Logbook can be compiled in a Word file. See Compiling the Logbooks
The list of Logbooks to be completed will appear in the “Evaluation” panel on the student portal.
