Practice Zone - Instructors

Info
This article is intended for instructors.

Notes
This article is for Entrepreneurship, Management and Marketing simulations.

The Practice Zone allows students to do a Practice Run before the Competitive Run (real simulation) begins. Students go at their own pace while competing against five virtual companies. There is no interaction with other classmates.  Students should complete the Tutorial section before they begin. Instructors often give several points for this section to motivate students.

How to configure the Practice Zone

The Practice Zone is enabled by default in the student portal in the Preparation Section, with no required number of rounds set that the student should complete.

If you are not using the Planner and you wish to set a recommended number of rounds, this can be done in the Simulation section of the specified Simulation within the  Instructor Portal. By moving the slider the Instructor can select the number of rounds:

If you want to disable access to the Practice Zone, this can be done using the Calendar. Using the “Access to the Practice Zone” event, the Instructor can select to disable access by choosing “Disable access”. They can even select to enable access again at a later date by using the event again and choosing “Enable access”.

If using the Planner, open it and go to the Preparation menu. Here the instructor can select a date/time to disable access if required. This can be left blank if they wish to leave it enabled. They can also select the number of rounds the student should complete, or leave it at 0 if there is no such requirement.

Idea
*To avoid confusion between the Practice Zone and the real simulation, the Practice Zone can be disabled once the simulation starts. A message will appear to alert students when the Practice Run is disabled.

Idea
**Please contact Praxar for student latecomers. We will place them in a Practice Run separately to avoid confusion for the game in progress.

Instructions to students

You can communicate your expectations for the minimum number of rounds students must complete in the Practice Zone. Leave this number at "0" if you don't have any minimum requirements. The results of those requirements (for instructors) can be found in the Preparation Tile.

This information will always be available, even when the Preparation or Practice Zone is disabled for students. The instructor only has access to the progress of the participants. (*No performance results are available).
