Golf : Social and Environmental Scores

Golf : Social and Environmental Scores

This article is intended for instructors.

Notes
This article is only for Golf Management simulation.

The Social and Environmental Scores now play a more predominant role in the Golf Management simulation following requests by instructors. The goal is for students to balance the financial demands of shareholders with social and environmental considerations.

The Golf simulation has three profit centres. Each department will challenge students to consider various corporate, social, ethical, and environmental components in their managerial decisions.

As in the previous version, students access the Social Balance Sheet Score by clicking on INDICATORS under the Chair of the Board character. The information is presented in two different formats:

A graph for both the Social and Environmental scores shows the student’s total score in that area, as well as their individual scores in each element which makes up the total score. This graph also shows the total possible score a student can obtain if playing for the full 10 rounds of the simulation (years).

A graph showing the Social and Environmental Scores over each year of the Simulation on a scale of 0-100.

To put more emphasis on the Social Balance Sheet, we have now split the variables into two groups: social and environmental.

  • Social variables: wages, training, OHS & labor relations, donations, and suppliers.
  • Environmental variables: water management, energy management, green space, and eco-friendly maintenance.

Two new weighted scores have been created, a Social score and Environmental score, each based on a scale of 1 to 100. These two scores have been integrated into the PODIUM, replacing the Number of employees and Rounds played.

Instructors will find the scores for all five variables in the PODIUM for all companies in the simulation and for all years, at the top of their SIMULATION page. This information can be downloaded along with the former variables (Number of employees and Rounds played) by clicking on Export in Excel.
