Financial accounting: Using the Report Generator to grade student results
This article is intended for instructors.
This article concerns only the 3 components of the Financial Accounting simulation: financial statements, financial analysis and budgeting.
Regardless of which component(s) you're working on, the reporting process is the same. However, in the case of Financial Accounting simulation, there is no distinction between the report fields to be selected, depending on whether you are working with one component or the whole simulation, which can lead to some confusion. The aim of this article is to provide greater clarity on this subject.

In the Instructor Zone, select the Reports tool. Then click on Create a new report:
- Give the report a unique name
- Select Financial Accounting from the Simulation Type menu
- Choose the Language in which you want your report, and click on Create
You are now at step 1, the report field selection stage.
There are 5 different sections of fields you can use to create your report:
- Registration
- Activity
- Progress
- Badges
- Result
Here, we'll concentrate on the Result section. In the Result section, you'll find all the results you can extract from the simulation to evaluate your students. In order to select the appropriate fields, please refer to the following table:

Please note that you can choose to obtain the results in various forms for all differents fields.
- Percentage score: (%)
- The number of points earned: Points
- Maximum possible score in terms of points: Max score
Once you have selected the results that you would like to see in the report, follow these final steps to generate the report:
- Click on the Next button
- Select the groups that will be included in the report, and then Next
- Finally, click on Generate, and then you will be able to download the report
- Click Finished to get back to the Reports page
